Infrared Thermography

Infrared thermography is a reliable and non-destructive method of imaging minute variations in material temperatures thus allowing a qualified operator to detect anomalies not visible to the human eye.

QuebecSpec’s infrared thermography services cover a wide range of applications even though the most common demanded are insulation, roofing and electricity.

QuebecSpec has 2 infrared cameras from FLIR (B300 & B50). The cameras allow us to capture and store images with the precise surface temperature of objects, allowing us to:

• Detect the presence of wet or humid insulation in walls and the attic. In the case of new buildings it is recommended to perform a full thermography inspection on the building envelop such as siding, windows, doors etc., before taking possession or in case of a dispute with your contractor.
• Detect defects in the building envelop that would be responsible for the discomfort of the occupants.
• Detect excess heat generated by equipment, electrical panels and to prevent defects.
• In the case of new buildings it is recommended to perform a full thermography inspection on the building envelop such as siding, windows, doors etc., before taking possession or in case of a dispute with your contractor.
  

Other areas of applications can also benefit from infrared thermography. These can be discussed and analysed with the customer to determine the best course of action.

On average, an infrared study can take up to 2 hours. The customer is invited to participate in the study and to converse with the inspector as the study progresses. The study is completed with the delivery of a written report with pictures send by email within 48 hours. A full printed colour version is also sent by mail a few days following.
